Making
an ISO image of a DVD movie with DVDdecrypter 3.5.4.0 |
This is a basic quick start guide to making ISO images with DVDdecrypter. As you get more familiar with DVDdecrypter you can explore the options and experiment with different settings. On some DVD's you may get a CRC (cyclic redundancy check) error with DVDShrink. The best way to avoid these errors is to create an ISO image of the DVD onto your hard drive with DVDdecrypter first, and then use DVDShrink on the DVD ISO image on your hard drive rather than the DVD itself. Note: ISO images can be very large, Windows 98 and hard drives formated with FAT32 can NOT support files lager than 4gig. Use Windows 2000 or XP formated with NTFS to create files larger than 4gig. 1).
Insert your DVD movie into your DVD drive
3). First we will need to configure DVDdecrypter. Click on the "Tools" drop down menu and then click on "Settings..."
4). Click on the "I/O" tab, and then click the "Ignore Read Errors" check box. You can set the "Software Read Error Retries:" to one or zero or what ever you want.
5).
Easy as ABC
6). Nothing to do now but wait. Notice the "Time Remaining" section, don't worry if you see the time go up to 2 or 3 or more hours. The whole process should only take about 30 minutes or so on newer movies with the ARccOS copy control (Resident Evil Apocalypse, Little Black Book, The Forgotten, etc.). If it takes more than an hour, It may be that your DVD is badly scrached or defective and DVDdecrypter is picking up too many read errors. You can cancel it, or let it continue, it's your choice.
7). Congratulations ...You're done making an ISO image! Continue on to step 8.
8).
Close DVDdecrypter and open DVDShrink.
9).
Easy as ABC
10). Now go to the DVDShrink Guide and continue on at step 6.
